PERFORMANCES

La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi, Bologna, Italy

Frames. Memories în three acts

Age group: 2-5 | Running time: 35 min | Small Hall

Our memory is made of windows, fragments of stories we have listened to, images we have seen, emotions we have felt, ever since we were little ones. Memories live in these windows, that we can open and close them. Memories in black and white, pleasant and unpleasant ones, that turn the past into present for a little while and that we can relive thanks to our imagination. As we grow up, memories can turn into questions – like the ones children ask grown-ups –, and they do so with a lightness and an innocence that seem to make the most difficult ones, the ones without an answer, almost weightless: Will the past ever come back? or If something no longer exists, why does it continue to keep on living inside me, both in my dreams and memories and why does it seem so real?

Arrow`s adventures

Age group: 6+ | Running time: 80 min | Rhapsody Hall

Arrow, a deflated ball abandoned by its owner, will learn a very valuable lesson through his adventures. Our hero finds himself alone and forgotten because he is of no use now. Downtrodden, he is not ready to quit, not yet, because he needs to find the boy he once belonged to. Throughout his adventures, Arrow will discover the ,,universe’’ of the park, a hidden universe accessible only to those who actually inhabit it. He will realise how important friends are and why trusting those close to you can change your destiny. In the end he will acknowledge the importance of the second chance and the efforts such an event implies. A new beginning requires change, and change is not possible without determination, but our hero has a lot of it.

The Why Mix Remix

Age group: 4+ | Running time: 40 min | Small Hall

Why do the hands get twisted? Why do the legs take different directions? Why does one have a tail and the others do not? The word “why” is the key to understanding and knowledge. “Mix” is a mixture. The show throws questions in the air about the meanings and interpretations of bodily movement. The Why Mix Remix is a geometric, thrilling, colourful and partially serious mixture of contemporary dance, mime and music. The show ponders on children’s reduced bodily expression and movement constructions in the era of smartphones and emojis.

The bear tricked by the fox

Age group: 3-6 | Running time: 40 min | Small Hall

One of the most beloved stories written by Ion Creangă, The bear tricked by the fox, comes to the stage as a show inspired by the current state of our society. The main themes of the story, gluttony and gullibility, will be represented in an entertaining yet shrewd way. There is gonna be a show within a show, because the Fox, our hero, will put on a whole performance in order to fool the Villager and the Bear. But which one of them is more gullible? There is a reason why the question ‘’How did the bear lose its tail?’’ is so popular and the public will learn the answer during the show. Our guide in this story is gonna be a histrionic fish. If usually we invite the audience to cheer on the heroes, this time we advise caution because the Fox is very deceitful and resourceful.

Tales with threads

Age group: 1-4 | Running time: 30 min | Small Hall

Led by an invisible thread, in front of us, a huge ball of wool and three enchanting characters will appear one by one. Together with the three characters we will start unravelling the threads around us. The thread multiplies, transforms and invites us to discover it. The music will create movements like waves on the surface of the water, and you will be lured to roam with them the world. Tales with threads is the ideal universe for any child who lets himself be separated from the hands of his parents and, guided by curiosity, enjoys exploring the unknown.

Bèrenger, the main character, will go through all the emotions that such an event can invoke, from refusal, to revolt, to resignation. Suggestive images that stimulate the senses, that provoke children's play. These images change shape and colour when they’re touched, when they’re chased. All of these are present on stage ready to make the little spectators want to meet with the shooting stars, men with umbrellas falling from heaven and other fantastic characters. This show is a very good example of the ’’magic of theatre’’, because in a finite space, the spectators are going to interact with colourful spots which showers everything and everyone with rays of light, giving the impression of an entirely different space.

CUTInE

Age group: 0-3 | Running time: 30 min | Small Hall

CUTInE is a show which invites the audience no matter their age to discover the posibilities they can give to a defined space and to some simple objects. Through their interactions the actors will encourage audience members to use or to rediscover their curiosity. The children are invited to "compete" with the actors in discovering the space and in finding ideas for transforming it. The starting point for the show is the desire of the two characters to find each other. In order to be able to emphasize the power of a gesture in relation to another person, but also in relation to an object or the environment, the show was designed as nonverbal.

OTHER EVENTS

Theatre and early childhood education - Educators workshop

Coord. Andra Burcă

Duration: 2h30 / Location: Rhapsody Hall

Children can be spectators from an early age. Communication sits at the heart theatre, whether it is between the actors or between the actors and the audience. Communication can be distilled down to its elementary components, such as: gaze, meaningful gesture, curiosity and space exploration. That is why the theatre found its place so easily in nurseries and kindergartens, the little ones showed themselves to be eager for the experiences proposed by it.

The workshop in the first instance will focus on clarifying questions that educators may have about theatre, questions such as: What is the right age to come to the theatre?, How do we prepare the little ones for a show?, How can we work with them after the show?, What are the themes addressed most often in the theatre for 0-6?, How can theatre facilitate the approach of those themes that may otherwise raise difficulties?

Participants must submit their registrations at festival@teatrulioncreanga.ro, until the 29th of September and receive a confirmation from the organizers. Required information: name and surname, age and education.

Experience a new reality - VR/AR workshop

Coord. Andrei Popa

Duration: 60 min / Location: Small Hall

In this workshop, we will discover and experience virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) through special equipment (headsets) and CLASSVR software - the world's most awarded educational solution based on virtual/augmented reality technology. Thanks to this technology, children will be able to see things they would not normally see. For example, understanding the human body is made much easier through VR, and even travelling to remote places and learning about local cultures or even the arid atmosphere of Mars become easier for them to access. The workshop is also a good opportunity to see the world in a different way.

Age group: 7+

Accompanying adults attend the workshop for free.

From imagination to reality - Professional artist workshop

Coord.: Anna Ros & Andreu Sans

Duration: 2h / Location: Small Hall

The workshop is a useful experience for professionals and teachers in the field of performing arts, but also in the educational field. The premise from which it starts can be summed up by the following creed: the birthplace of creativity is the subconscious. Therefore, a fine tuning of the subconscious to the conscious, intuition and instincts to the means of expression available is necessary. In order to be able to reach such lightness in expression, the workshop offers a series of stimulating exercises, the purpose of which is to reopen the routes between the possibilities of expression and the source of creativity.

Participants must submit their registrations at festival@teatrulioncreanga.ro, until the 4th of October and receive a confirmation from the organizers. Required information: name and surname, age and education.

roboTIC - Robotics workshop

Coord. Andrei Popa

Duration: 60 min / Location: Small Hall

The workshop will allow children to get acquainted with AI technology, with the help of mini robots that draw, write or move. Participants will discover how artificial intelligence works and learn how to interact with the robots in order to communicate their intentions as accurately as possible. They will write and draw with them and, last but not least, learn movements from each other. This course is an interactive and a useful one, and at the end of it the children will go home with lots of new information that they will use sooner or later.

Age group: 5+

Accompanying adults attend the workshop for free.

How to shape your ideas - 3D printing workshop

Coord. Andrei Popa

Duration: 60 min / Location: Small Hall

What is 3D technology and what does three-dimensional printing mean? These are just two of the questions to which the children will learn the answers during this workshop. From the definition of 3D technology to the limits of it, including the type of objects that can be three-dimensional printed, the course covers the key points of the theme. Participants will use 3D printing smart pen as working tools and also special guide sheets. Thanks to these tools, children will be able to shape the desired objects. After the workshop, the drawings can be kept as a memory.

Age group: 5+

Accompanying adults attend the workshop for free.
